A semi-explicit finite element method for dynamic analysis of dielectric elastomers.

In this paper, we present a finite element method that solves for the electromechanical behavior of dielectric elastomers. The method consists of an explicit solver to update the velocity field and an implicit solver to update the electric voltage. This method allows us to circumvent the difficulty of solving for deformation after snap-through instability, which can be sudden and dramatic.
